The Week to Play! Astrology of the week of July 22-28, 2019

In the month of July we have experienced two eclipses, waves of intense energies, and Mercury in retrograde. It hasn't been easy, but it has given us opportunities to dive deep, let go, and evolve.
The good news is that this coming week of July is a nice breath of fresh air and it is all about PLAY!

Who doesn't love to Play in July?!

On Monday, July 22, the Sun moves from the sign of Cancer to the sign of Leo and stays until August 23. Leo rules the 5th house of the zodiac, which is all about children, romance, inner child, self-expression, and creativity. Leo is about charisma, fun, leadership, and joy. The Sun is about how we shine our light for the world to see -- our individuality and personality. This energy is light, playful, and wants you to tap into what makes you joyful. Sometimes when we relax and play the most creative ideas come to us.

Mercury is conjunct with Venus on July 24 and both planets are in the sign of Cancer. A conjunction means that each planet intensifies the energy of the other. Retrogrades are about reviewing the past. Cancer rules home and family. Venus rules relationships, money, what we value, while Mercury is about communication. Potential scenarios activated may include a family gathering, issues and conversations in the family around money, or possibly someone from the past may return for a very important conversation.

The only potential challenging aspect of the week to be aware of on July 24 is that the Moon will be in zodiac sign of  Aries and will be square to Pluto, Mercury, Venus and the Sun.  A square aspect in astrology means that the planets are in conflict or challenging each other. The moon governs our emotional nature and Aries is reactive. Be careful in these family conversations that emotional buttons are not pushed. People may be a bit sensitive.

Back to the positive aspects -- July 25th sees Mars (in Leo) trines with Jupiter (in Sagittarius) which gives us an opportunity to expand our horizons, move a project or dream forward. Mars rules action and Jupiter is all about luck and opportunity. Go back to a project that needs a boost. The energy is ripe to move it forward.

On July 27, Venus moves from the sign of Cancer and joins the Sun and Mars in Leo. She will be in Leo until August 21. Venus brings love and excitement, the Sun bring vitality, and Mars brings the energy of action. It is great combination of energies to connect with your inner child and play. Love and creativity blooms.

Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse and other astrological aspects of the week of July 15, 2019

 Good Day Friends!

I am enjoying the research I do to get this weekly blog post on astrology ready for you, though I do feel like I started at the most difficult point. We will need to get prepared for another week of intense energies that include a full moon and lunar eclipse.

We start on Tuesday, July 16 with the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse at 24 degrees of Capricorn. The energy of a full moon is about bring something to completion or becoming aware of something in our lives that needs to be healed and released. The eclipse energy intensifies the need to release and the energies will be active until the next set of eclipses in December (in 6 months).

This is all taking place in the sign of Capricorn, the sign that represents the patriarchy, government, institutions, business, and religious systems. So pay attention to how this full moon affects your work, job, workplace. There may be disruption or changes.

Also of note today, the Sun and Venus are in Cancer, while the Moon, Saturn, and Pluto are in Capricorn. I have to give credit to astrologist Barbara Goldsmith (on Youtube) who called attention to this aspect in a recent video and called it a "choice between the power of love and the love of power." Do we have the courage to choose wisely?

Venus opposes Saturn on Wednesday, July 17, so when paying attention to your job, are you in conflict with the boss? Drilled down to its core meaning, this astrological aspect triggers the push and pull between freedom and restrictions. You may want to be free to do what you would like to do, but their is an authority figure that is the obstacle. Find middle ground.

On Thursday, July 18, a blissful aspect to give us a break among the oppositions this week. Venus trines with Neptune which is a very good astrological aspect that heightens our creativity. The only warning is to stay grounded.

Mercury is still retrograde and on Friday, July 19, Mercury retrogrades back into Cancer and will remain there for the next 3 weeks. Expect to feel extra sensitive and perhaps defensive while Mercury is in this water sign, Try not to take things personally.

Last but not least, next Sunday, July 21, the Sun will conjunct with Mercury in Cancer. So if you are going to give your opinion or speak your truth, it is best to do so in a loving manner. Cancer is the sign of family, home, mother, and nurturing. Have compassion when you speak up this day.

Challenging Energies and the Astrology for the week of July 8, 2019

Before we discuss the astrology of the coming week, let's check in how you feel after the new moon solar eclipse? Energized? Tired? Excited? Let me know in the comments. The energies of the eclipse last up to 6 months.

As we head into this week, Mercury just went retrograde at 4 degrees of Leo on July 7. I am already feeling its influence as I write this post. Mercury governs communication and the means of communication (technology).  When it goes retrograde, or moves backwards, communication slows down. Technology like phones, laptops, and other electronic devices can go haywire. It is not a good time to sign contracts either because details in contracts may be inaccurate. Read the fine print carefully if you have to sign a lease or contract. Mercury's retrograde lasts until July 31.

In addition to the retrograde, we have several other aspects this week that will produce challenging energies for us. Some are in the areas of communication, but also internal emotional aspects. Being informed and prepared for these energies may help you navigate or avoid the emotional triggers.

Monday, July 8, Mercury conjuncts (connects) with Mars and they each intensify the other's energy. Both planets are in Leo. Mars the fire planet in a fire sign. Mars likes action and moving things forward but he will be a bit frustrated with Mercury in retrograde. Mercury's element is air and governs thoughts, ideas, and expression of those thoughts. The positive aspect of this connection is that the mind may be active with new ideas or go into a creative or artistic phase.

On Tuesday, July 9, the Sun (in Cancer) opposes Saturn (in Capricorn). Saturn is the teacher or authority figure that wants to restrict our movement forward until we have thoroughly learned our lesson. The Sun (in Cancer) is warm vitality in the home and family sign of the Zodiac but this clash with Saturn is not comfortable. If you are drawn into an argument with another person, especially a person of authority, or a difficult situation arises at home or work, then your challenge is to see the argument from the other person's perspective. This person or situation may be mirroring an aspect of you that needs to be healed. Pay attention and don't get drawn into the drama.  This aspect and energy will last until July 15.

Thankfully at mid-week, we have a positive aspect on July 10, when the Sun trines Neptune. Look for opportunities to practice your intuitive skills, use your imagination, or work on your artistic potential, go for it!

Thursday, July 11 Mars (Leo) and Uranus (Taurus) are in a Square. When planets fall into a square aspect in the zodiac, it means that they are challenging each other and producing an obstacle in an area of your zodiac chart that needs to be addressed. Square's make this uncomfortable for us so that we take an action to change the situation. Mars the planet of bold action, assertiveness, power, sex, and Uranus is the planet that rules unexpected change and the inner power of our purpose in life. Both are fire planets and both are power planets. 

So when these two planets square off, there will be intense energies triggering feelings of freedom. Freedom will clash with obligation and may cause impatience,tension, and bring out  a combative nature in people. Something unexpected may happen under the influence of Uranus. Under this aspect it is good to stay grounded, breath and meditate. This aspect will have influence on a global level. Watch the news to see what happens.

On Sunday, July 14  Sun (in Cancer) now opposes Pluto (in Capricorn). Pluto rules transformation and this aspect signals a need to look at ourselves differently. How do others see me? Am I presenting myself in the best light? Am I letting my light shine? This opposition may make us review our own character, but it can also shine a light on selfishness and antisocial behavior.

This is a heavy week. I will repeat practice good self care by staying grounded, breath, and meditate. Be careful with your communication this week. Don't send the angry text message. Try to surround yourself with healing energy and send that to others.

Intense energies for the week of July 1

July starts off with a Bang! How appropriate with the holiday just a few days away. This month's
energies are intense, but you may not feel like you are moving forward. But you are. Let me explain.

On July 1, Mars moves from the sign of Cancer, which he didn't like because of its watery influence over the fire planet, and into Leo. Mars loves to be in the fire sign. Fire and more fire gives you a big boost towards action!

Then on July 2, a new Moon, in Cancer arrives in time for you to plant your seeds of intention. However it is not just like any new Moon. It is influenced by the total solar eclipse happening also in the sign of Cancer. Whatever dreams you have bubbling up from deep inside of you, I hope they are big and bold because this type of cosmic energy can help propel those dreams. Make sure you focus on the positive -- what you want. Do NOT focus on what you don't want or else that will be what you end of manifesting.

By July 7, the universe hits the cosmic (pause) button. Mercury goes retrograde at 4 degrees of Leo. I don't usually mention degree points but this one is important. When a planet is retrograde, it travels backwards, so Mercury will retrograde back into the sign of Cancer, a water sign that governs family, mother, and feelings. During this retrograde old situations, hurts, wounds that trigger our emotions may surface and they are meant to so that they may be healed. Sometimes during a retrograde, a person from the past returns so that you can close that relationship or review the lesson it brought to you.

Mercury is in retrograde for the rest of the month and will turn direct on August 1. So what you thought was going to be a month of action, turns into a month of reflection, revision, and closure.

Energies and Astrology for week of June 23

This past week the sun entered Cancer which signaled the summer solstice. The energy of this new phase lingers as the sun shines on and illuminates the shadows (or what is going on in the shadows collectively).

On June 23 (today), a T-square is formed between Venus (in Gemini), Jupiter (in Sagittarius), and Neptune (in Pisces). A square aspect involves two planets in conflict with each other and results in energy to trigger us to take action to resolve what ever challenge is at hand. A T-square involves three planets and can represent a more difficult influence or challenge for which we are energized to resolve. This T-square lasts the entire week. It will end on June 29.

So what does this particular aspect involving Venus, Jupiter and Neptune mean?

Venus and Jupiter are the benefic planets -- bringing us love, rewards, accolades and success. The energy will be one of wanting to live "the good life." This week enjoy good food and drink, treat yourself to a massage or facial. Do something that makes you feel like you are living in luxury. Soak your feet and eat your favorite ice cream. BUT don't overdo it, especially if your bank account can't handle a luxe lifestyle. Everything is wonderful in moderation. For couples, this would be a good week to plan a date night. For you singles, gather some friends together for dinner at home or out at your favorite eatery.

The Venus and Neptune part of this T-square is a little more serious. The conflict between these two planets may trigger self-doubt or questions of self-worth. Neptune rules the imagination and perception of truth/illusions. Don't let your fears take over this week. If you have mental health issues like bi-polar or paranoia, please take your meds and see your counselor. The key to getting through this energy is to stay grounded! If you do a review of the recent past year, then focus on the positive things you have experienced or accomplished!

I repeat this T-square lasts the entire week. It will end on June 29.

On June 24, Mercury (in Cancer) squares Uranus (in Taurus). This aspects lasts through June 30th. Mercury rules how we express ourselves and the conflict with Uranus may make our communication opinionated, brusque, and insensitive. It may, in connection with the aspects described above, result in our expression being very emotional and conveying our self-doubt and skepticism onto others. Be mindful and temper what you are thinking and what you are saying (or writing or tweeting)!

Astrology for the week of June 10, 2019

Neptune, Mars, and Mercury are all very active this week. Energies of psychic activation, challenging judgmental tendencies, and the fog of confusion or the clarity of creating your own reality are in the mix.

On Monday, June 10, the Sun (which is still stationed in Gemini) is in opposition to Jupiter (retrograde and in Sagittarius). Don't go to excess under Jupiter's influence today. Jupiter likes to expand, increase, blow-up everything it touches that can be both good or bad. Everything in moderation today and with the Sun in Gemini, a very communicative sign, moderate your expressions, opinions, and judgement.

On Thursday and Friday, June 13-14, Mars, (stationed in Cancer)  is making a positive connection with (trines) Neptune (transiting its home sign Pisces). Mars is about action and movement forward. The positive connection with Neptune may mean that psychic and spiritual senses are activated or heightened. Your dreams may be very interesting so be sure to keep a dream journal by your bed.

However at the same time Mars is opposing Saturn (in Capricorn) and Saturn likes to restrict movement forward. Saturn wants to make sure you have learned all your lessons and done all your work. That hard work pays off if you are working on your spiritual gifts, but don't be discouraged if it slows down.

On Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16, Mercury connects with (trines) Neptune; is in opposition to Saturn and Pluto; and is conjunct with Mars!  He is enjoying a very busy weekend.
When one planet trines another, they are working in harmony, so Mercury the communication planet will work harmoniously with the energy of Neptune communicating and expressing the psyche. Mercury and Mars in a conjunction means that they are infusing their individual energies into a more intense and powerful experience. Communication & Action joined together. They could really blow themselves out of proportion, but they won't because the opposition to Saturn and Pluto will have a grounding effect. I would still expect a lot of social energy and the psychic senses to really be activated regardless.

Now if that is not enough, the biggest energy of the week occurs on Sunday, June 16 with Jupiter challenging or in a square aspect to Neptune. This is the second time this year these two planets have squared off and a third time will occur in September. Square aspects mean conflict that results in action to resolve the conflict. Jupiter, the good luck planet, is at home in Sagittarius, but also retrograde. Jupiter rules knowledge, higher learning, honesty, a willingness to try new experiences. Jupiter wants to expand your knowledge and your zest for life. Neptune is the planet of mystery, imagination, and illusion. So get ready for a clash between fact and fiction, reality and fantasy. Be discerning as you proceed through this energy.

Astrology for the week of June 3-9

We have  great energies to harness this week with the opportunity to set big intentions into motion. Don't hesitate to dream big!!!


To start the week, there is a new Moon in Gemini on June 3. It is a chance for us to set new intentions on the mental level. Gemini rules the mental realm, learning, and communication. The new moon and new start begins in the mind. Every action we take begins with a thought. Powerful new intentions can be made this month, but it all starts with our thoughts.

This is important because the new Moon (in Gemini) is in opposition to Jupiter (transiting Sagittarius) which means the energy is pushing us to review and evaluate our long held beliefs. Are those beliefs still true and for our highest good at this time?

To further complicate matters, the Moon is also square to Neptune (in Pisces). Neptune likes to cloud up the thinking. Aspects that square two heavenly bodies against each other mean that there is a conflict which will force us to take action. If you have doubts about what intention to set, listen to your deep intuitive voice. The positive factor in this aspect is that there is an opportunity to create our own realities. Our imaginations will get a boost from Neptune. Big dreams can be set into motion with this new Moon. 


On June 4, Mercury, the planet that rules Gemini, moves from Gemini into Cancer and stays there until June 26. The mental focus and energy shifts to family and home. Communication may be more emotional under the water sign of Cancer.

On June 8, Venus moves from Taurus into Gemini where she can be extra flirty. As if Gemini's need that boost!  She will be in Gemini until July 3 and this is your opportunity to generate new ideas around money and finance.

Starting on June 9 and going into June 10, the Sun squares Neptune as well bring confusing energy to the collective.
